The Board of Control of Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI) previously made frequent headlines about its strong stance against the usage of the Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS), stating that the technology is not full proof. The country’s cricketing governing body,
along with some of the senior players, including batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, also offered some out loud criticism for the Hawk-Eye ball tracking system, resulting in the exclusion of the technology in the recent tour to the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, and now the from
the much anticipated Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 at Lords.
However, in a recent affair, things turned a little different after Tendulkar’s views on the usage of Hawk-Eye softened after meeting its inventor, Paul Hawkins.
The two met during the first Test of the ongoing series from India’s Tour to England, where Hawkins made clear to Tendulkar how the technology works. Hawkins explained to the batting legend that the technology works automatically rather than manually. The
inventor was pleased after he revealed that Tendulkar left saying that the BCCI could be convinced on the usage of Hawk-Eye in UDRS after he had been convinced about its utility.
“The problem has been that the BCCI have made decisions without knowing the facts. It was clear Tendulkar had been told the Hawk-Eye system was manual, requiring an operator. He wasn't aware it is automatic and beyond corruption by humans,” stated Hawkins.
Tendulkar’s rendezvous with Hawkins presumably came since the Indian is stated to be part of an upcoming project involving cricket simulator theme parks to be built in all the major cities in India.
The project will involve the audience having an opportunity to bowl to Tendulkar and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739, but what comes as a surprise is that the project is being constructed using the much criticised Hawk-Eye.
Previously, through the intervention of the BCCI, the Indian squad managed to get the UDRS and the Hawk-Eye excluded from their ongoing fixtures with the English.
In response, former English off-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Ernest-Emburey-c67766, cited that “the reason India do not want it is because it will favour our bowlers”.
Similarly, in the previous Test series against the West Indies, the Indian side went out without the DRS. Though the first match ended in the visitors’ favour, team India did regret barring the review system after losing three doubtful stumps.
