Veteran Indian batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556, recently released a book titled
Sachin - A Tribute To The Legend, which chronicles his 100 centuries. The book, published by The Hindu group of publications, was launched by the cricketer in a ceremony at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians' team hotel, on Tuesday.
“It gives me immense pleasure to launch this book,” Tendulkar said. “All the efforts taken by
The Hindu mean a lot to me. Over the years I have made lot of friends and they are dear ones. Our friendship has grown in a similar manner as
The Hindu has grown,” he continued, adding that he cherished their moments together.
The batsman, who turned 39 on April 24, established a seemingly unbeatable record for a 100 international centuries earlier this year when he smashed his 100th ton against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 during the Asia Cup in Mirpur. The feat was added to an already
lengthy list, which includes his record for most runs in Test matches (15470 runs in 188 matches) and most runs in ODIs (18426 runs in 463 matches).
However, the journey towards the 100th century was far from smooth, and prior to the Asia Cup the right-hander found himself under immense pressure as he fell into a batting slump and went for nearly a year without a century. His 99th ton had
been scored in the 2011 World Cup against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, and as expectations mounted, Tendulkar failed to deliver, registering disappointing scores such as 15, 3, 14, and 6.
The moment of glory finally arrived on March 16 in Dhaka, when the Little Master finally ended the drought with a 114 against Bangladesh. The feat earned him accolades from all quarters, and he admitted that he was glad to have the weight off his shoulders.
Providing a narrative of the ups and downs of the journey, the book also includes rare pictures and a range of statistics. Tendulkar released the book accompanied by the Mumbai Indians coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453.
“Reading various articles and opinions (in The Hindu) has played an important role in my career,” he said. “I want to take this opportunity to thank you for putting this book together in a matter of few weeks. It’s a mammoth effort and thank you
very much.”
