Great Indian batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 Tendulkar, has decided to call it a day from Indian Premier League (IPL) and made it clear that he will not be available for the seventh season, which is scheduled to be
played in 2014.
The Master-Blaster has been associated with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians since the opening season of the cash-rich league in 2008. The legendary cricketer was the captain of the franchise in the initial seasons,
before giving up on the responsibility as he wanted to concentrate on his batting.
The 40-year-old cricketer represented Mumbai in 78 IPL matches, having scored 2334 runs at a batting average of 34.83 runs per innings, which is considered to be very good in the shortest format of
the game.
Under the captaincy of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RG-Sharma-c2309, Mumbai won the sixth edition of the IPL last night, beating Chennai Super Kings in the final at Kolkata. However, Sachin was not able to take part in the all-important
fixture because of fitness issues.
While expressing his views after the victory, Tendulkar announced his retirement and admitted that his age does not allow him to take part in all formats of the game.
"This is my last IPL," said the former Indian captain after the final. "This has been a fantastic season. I thought our third IPL season was the best before this. I think this is the right time to stop
playing the IPL. I am 40. Got to accept it. I had decided this was my last season."
Sachin, who is considered to be among the greatest batsmen in the history of the game, thanked his fans for backing him throughout the six editions of the illustrious tournament.
"This is the best point to say 'thank you very much' to all the supporters and well-wishers," he said.  
The cricketer from Mumbai has already announced his retirement from the shorter formats of international cricket and he is just available for Test cricket now. Since making his international debut in 1989, the
batting-maestro has scored more than 34 thousand runs at the highest stage of the game with the help of 100 centuries.
