Indian batting prodigy, Sachin Tendulkar, on Thursday reiterated that he is enjoying playing cricket and has no plans of bidding farewell to the gentleman’s sport in the near future.
“…I am enjoying cricket and will continue enjoying as long as I am passionate about cricket,” said the master blaster, replying to a question about his retirement in an exclusive interview with CNN-IBN, on Thursday.
Sachin Tendulkar, the 39-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Maharashtra-c811 batsman who made his international debut with India in 1989, holds almost every batting record in international cricket – be it the maximum number of games played, runs scored or centuries
struck.
It was being anticipated that the veteran would quit international cricket if India wins the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 lifted the coveted trophy in April last year and dedicated it to the Master Blaster, he was stuck on 99 international
tons. Many believed that he would call it quits after achieving that milestone, but once again http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 reiterated his desire to continue playing.
However, he has been playing a limited number of ODI games of late, and most recently he opted out of the upcoming limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka.
Asked if he was contemplating over retiring from the 50-over format of game, the veteran said, "As long as I am enjoying I will continue to be part of it. I decided not to be part of the Twenty20 team in 2007 and I took a decision."
About his decision to withdraw from the Sri Lankan itinerary, comprising of five One Day Internationals and a one-off T20, Sachin said that he was on an extended break, spending time with his children in UK.
“I just wanted to spend some time with my family just simple as that,” said the little batting maestro. “To prepare myself for Lanka tour means I shouldn't be here and would be back home practising and spending time with my children
would have been difficult," he explained.
India’s tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, comprising of five ODIs and a T20 International, gets underway in Hambantota on July 21, and will run till August 7.
