Sachin Tendulkar shortlisted for all-time greatest ODI cricket team
Sachin Tendulkar, the “Little Master”, has been nominated by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in a shortlist of 48 cricketers from among whom cricket fans around the world will select the all-time greatest ODI team in an
online poll. This poll is being conducted as a part of ODI cricket’s 40th anniversary. Tendulkar’s teammate http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virender-Sehwag-c95429 also made it to the list, as did retired Indian batsman Sourav Ganguly. Tendulkar, Sehwag and Ganguly are among the choices
for opening batsmen, out of whom only two will make the final list.
"To mark the 40th anniversary of One-Day International cricket, the ICC's official website is asking supporters from across the globe to select their choice of the greatest ODI match and team of all-time,” said the ICC in a statement.
These polls can be found on the website http://www.icc-cricket.com/, where fans can select their dream team, as well as their favourite match out of a list of 10 memorable matches. The polls will
run till January 2, and results will be announced on January 5.
"With the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 now less than two months away, excitement and interest in the one-day format of the game will certainly intensify,” said ICC chief executive http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haroon-Lorgat-c61719. “We know that fans will enjoy having
the chance to remember some of the great games and great players that have played in ODI cricket during the past 40 years."
Another anniversary event is planned on January 16, during the innings break of the first ODI match between Australia and England. During the break, the Australian ODI team from 1971 will make an appearance before the crowd at
the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
