Sachin Tendulkar terms SCG his favourite ground away from India – Cricket News Update
The Test series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 is off to a flying start with the hosts winning the opening fixture at the Melbourne Cricket Ground by 122 runs with a day to spare.
Now all eyes are on the second Test match, to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) from January 3, 2012. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556, India’s leading batsman, in a recent interview to 'The Daily Telegraph' has termed the ground as his favourite, away from India.
The Little Master said, “The SCG has obviously been my favourite ground away from India. It's a terrific ground, a special place. I love the atmosphere. It's wonderful. There are these certain grounds where you walk out there feeling you're going to do well
and the SCG is one of those grounds where I feel comfortable.”
Tendulkar has been in pursuit of his 100th century that has eluded him for some time now. The batsman nearly got to the milestone at the MCG before http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PM-Siddle-c2197 bowled him at the score of 73.
However, things might change at SCG. Sydney has been a great hunting ground for Tendulkar. Till today, the Little Master has played four matches at this ground and his stats are outstanding, as he has scored 664 runs at an average of 221.33 at this ground
which also includes three centuries.
Though, the 38-year-old seems to be getting better with age and many former cricketers have urged the batsman to keep playing. Nonetheless, the match at SCG may very well be the last match that the batting maestro will play at this ground.
The hype of Tendulkar scoring his 100th century at SCG even precedes the importance of India and Australia series. Cricket NSW chief executive, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/David-Robert-Gilbert-c53182, hoped the excitement will draw the crowd as well.
Gilbert said, “With Tendulkar chasing his 100th hundred and given his record at the SCG we hope that translates into a big walk-up. The attendance in Melbourne was a record so the interest is certainly there this week. It's been a late start to the international
season given Australia was in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 but we're confident sales will pick up.”
India will be looking to win the second Test at the SCG to tie the series at 1-1.
