Sachin Tendulkar will recover in time to play his sixth World Cup
Indian batting icon Sachin Tendulkar, who has come back home owing to his injury in the One-Day international in Durban is quite well and is ready to play sixth
World Cup of his career.
Sources close to Sachin revealed that the hamstring injury which the 'little master' carried during South Africa tour was not that serious to become a hindrance
in his fitness for the upcoming mega event which will commence from February 19, 2011.
"It was just a strain and nothing more than that. The team physio reckoned it would only take a few days to set right and his non-participation in the remainder
of the series was just a precautionary measure," the source said.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has not given any news on Tendulkar’s injury except a press release on January 16 which stated, "Sachin Tendulkar will
not take further part in the ongoing ODI series against South Africa due to a hamstring injury. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 as his replacement."
India have been fortunate, as the absence of their batting star Tendulkar has not affected the team and they have won both the last two matches against the Proteas,
and taken a lead of 2-1 in the five match series.
Cricket experts have revealed that the upcoming 2011 World Cup could be Tendulkar’s last, after having featured in the 1992 (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754), 1996
(Indian Sub-continent), 1999 (United Kingdom), 2003 (South Africa) and 2007 (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 ) editions.
Indian left-handed batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gautam-Gambhir-c58623 recently stated that present Indian team is a very decent outfit and they must win the trophy for Tendulkar. He said
that though this would be the sixth World Cup of Sachin's career, he has been unfortunate not to win even one of them.
“Australia have won three on the trot and many of their players are not fit to tie Tendulkar's bootlaces," he said.
While talking about his 20 greatest moments in 2009, Tendulkar said: "I was playing with a finger injury and the finger wouldn't straighten. I avoided fielding
practice through the tournament because I was experiencing a lot of pain while catching. I gave fielding practice (to the team) though."
According to critics, the team to beat in this edition of the ICC World Cup would be http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, considering they would be playing in home conditions. The team has
been showing some consistency in their recent matches and of all the people in the team, Tendulkar would love to end his career by winning the most prestigious event in the world of cricket, for his country and himself.
