Sachin Tendulkar wishes to play ODIs against Pakistan and England: Reports – Cricket News Update
According to media reports, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, in his pursuit of finding form ahead of the all-important Test series against Australia.
Tendulkar, who is considered to be one the greatest batsmen of all times, has been underperforming at the international level for almost two years now, having scored his last Test century in January, 2011. After failing to help India avoid whitewashes in
England and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 and England this year at home, scoring just 175 runs in the six matches.
Since helping the Men in Blue clinch the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011 at home, Tendulkar has rarely taken part in the limited-over sport, preserving his energies for the longer format of the game.
However, the batting-maestro is keen to play in the upcoming series against Pakistan and England, with the Indian selectors likely to announce the squads tomorrow.
Tendulkar’s former teammate, Ganguly feels that it will be a good move by the little-master to play the 50-over format, which can help him regain his lost touch.
"I am not surprised with that. It's good for him. If he needs to keep playing at the end of the Australia series, he needs to be in form and ODI are the best way for him to get in-form", Ganguly said. "If he needs to continue, he needs to play all formats
of the game and not have a start-stop career.”
A number of former cricketers and analysts feel that the legendary player has gone past his best at the highest stage of the game and he should call it a day now. Ganguly however, is of the opinion that nobody has the right to pressurise the great batsman,
as he has done wonders for Indian cricket over the last 23 years.
"Critics don't matter. It's what selectors think and BCCI think. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 is too big for everyone. What he has achieved is beyond everybody's reach. He has the ability and the right to call the shots", he said.
