Sachin Tendulkar’s absence from ODI series delights Aussie skipper
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s absence from India's three match One-Day series against Australia has come as a big relief for the tourists after their 2-0 whitewash in the Test series – mainly due to Sachin’s heroics. Tendulkar has been given rest during
the ODI leg of the Australian tour that kicks off from Sunday, 17th of October 2010.
Tendulkar had compiled 403 runs in the recently concluded two-match Test series, including a double century, thus climbing to the top spot of the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings' table for Test batsmen. So, it wasn't astonishing when the stand-in skipper
of Australia, Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120, showed his glee at not having the veteran batsman in the ODIs.
"I am happy that he [Sachin] is not playing. I am sick of seeing Sachin scoring so many runs," said Michael on the eve of the first of the three One Day Internationals at Kochi.
The prolific Indian batsman has almost always enjoyed a thriving performance with the bat against the Kangaroos. Since 1991, the 37-year-old has played 67 matches against the Australian team, logging 3005 runs at an impressive average of 46, including nine
hundreds and 14 half-centuries.
Clarke also condemned the Australian athletes for vandalizing their apartments at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 after their side lost the Bangalore Test last week.
"It is very disappointing but obviously, we have no control over what other people are doing around," stated Clarke.
It was reported that the Australian athletes, who were in India to participate in Commonwealth Games, had battered the Master Blaster for his match-winning performance in Bangalore – where Sachin had struck a double-century in the first innings.
However, the stand-in captain maintained that the reaction of a few athletes was converse to the general feeling in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, where the promising batsman is adored for his outstanding ability. "We all love Sachin Tendulkar because he is an amazing player
and for what he has done for world cricket is unbelievable. He is a great ambassador for the game."
The Aussie skipper praised Tendulkar's heroics in the Test series and said that it was a good learning experience for some of the Australian players.
"I think we have seen again one of the greatest players of all time bat like a genius - Sachin Tendulkar. I think Nathan Hauritz would have learnt a lot about the difference between bowling in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and Australia."
