The legendary cricketer from India, Kapil Dev, has said that it is about time Sachin Tendulkar, aka “the Little Master”, realises that his glory days are behind him, and he no longer poses a threat to the opposition in limited
over format.
Dev, the man who led India to World Cup glory in 1983, believes that Sachin’s time is up and he should bid adieu to the game that he has served for over two decades.
Paying tribute to the glorious career of the Little Master, Dev said, “Having served India for 22-23 years, there surely is no greater cricketer than him. It's important to know that every cricketer has his time. From what we have
seen in the last three months, he should have announced his retirement after the World Cup.”
The World Cup winning captain of India reckons that Sachin is going through a difficult phase which every cricketer eventually has to go through, and he should plan for his retirement.
Dev said that the Master Blaster wants to keep on playing, as cricket means everything to him, but Sachin should understand that age has finally caught up with him, and he is not the same player that he used to be a few years back.
Referring to former cricketers, such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sourav-Chandidas-Ganguly-c90746, he said, “May be his time has come. Every player has his time. Age is not on his side as it was earlier. Perhaps Sachin loves cricket more than himself.
Azhar feels like playing even now. Sourav (Ganguly) wants to play.”
Dev urged the Indian selectors to think over the matter and help the personified batsman, who is in search of his 100th international century for almost a year, through the prevailing issue.
“It's important what the Board or the selectors feel about the issue,” said the 53-year-old Dev.
