Indian batting prodigy http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556, on Sunday, December 22, 2012 announced retirement from One Day International cricket to partly end an illustrious cricketing career that began at a juvenile age of 16 in December 1989.
Sachin retires from one-day cricket with a number of on and off the field records to his name. The Master Blaster will always be remembered for his batting as well as for his longevity. The Indian legend, who last month completed 23 successful years in international
cricket, retires as the most capped ODI cricketer with 463 appearances. His staggering run tally of 18426 runs, compiled at an impressive average of 44.83, is way above from his next two competitors, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ST-Jayasuriya-c2567
of Sri Lanka (13430), who have already retired.
Tendulkar’s 23-year-long ODI career, which started with ducks in his first two appearances against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, saw him becoming the first batsman to score a double ton in the 50-overs format of the game. He was the top scorer in the 2003 Cricket World Cup,
jointly hosted by South Africa, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045. He was the tournament’s leading run scorer, with a record tally of 673 runs from 11 matches at 61.18, and was also named as the Player of the Tournament, though the excitement was overshadowed by India’s
defeat to Australia in the final.
He then excelled in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 on Sachin’s home ground, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and Sachin said that lifting
the coveted trophy in front of home crowd was the proudest moment of his life.
"Winning the World Cup [in 2011] is the proudest moment of my life. ... I couldn't control my tears of joy," Sachin said in a statement released by the BCCI on Sunday. "I feel blessed to have fulfilled the dream of being part of a World Cup winning Indian
team," added the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 batsman.
His form with the bat has dipped in recent years, as his average in one-day cricket in 2012 fell to 31.5, despite scoring an elusive ton (114) in his penultimate ODI innings against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 in Dhaka earlier this year.
Despite Sachin’s struggling form with the bat across all the three formats of game of late, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Maharashtra-c811 star has given so many memories to the cricket fans. In a bid to pay tribute to the iconic Indian batsman, Bettor.com has compiled some of the most
memorable knocks of his long career:
1) 200* against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, February 2010 Gwalior
The veteran came to open the innings alongside http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739 and stayed at the crease from the first ball to last, reaching a historic landmark, which no other international batsman had achieved earlier, the first double ton in the history of One Day International
cricket. Tendulkar, 36 then, cramped up soon after reaching the 150-run mark, but he did not ask for a runner and continued his way to 200 not out. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607’s 147-ball unbeaten knock, studded with as many as 25 fours and three sixes, propelled India’s total
to 401 for 3. The Men in Blue had won that match by 153 runs, and the Master Blaster was the unanimous choice for the Player of the Match award.
