Sacked Shahid Afridi hopes for justice in his dispute with PCB
Pakistan’s recently sacked captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sahibzada-Mohammad-Shahid-Khan-Afridi-c87933, received a grand welcome last night at Karachi International airport, where thousands of fans were desperate to have glance at their cricket hero.
However, most of his lovers were not able to see much of Afridi, as the former skipper sneaked away silently without talking much to hundreds of media persons.
Hoping to get justice in his battle against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Afridi said that he will soon declare his ‘plan of action’ to sort things out with cricket authorities in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
“I won’t be able to talk http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-Muchall-c1499 about the issue as I have a detailed meeting with my lawyers tomorrow morning. I will decide on my future course of action on Monday after consulting my lawyers and hope to get justice,'' Afridi said.
After being sacked from captaincy, the flamboyant all-rounder announced his retirement from international cricket.
In response, PCB withdrew all No Objection Certificates (NOCs) that were granted to the former skipper in order to be able to play cricket abroad.
After cancelling his central contract, the Board also issued a show-cause notice to Afridi for violating the code of conduct.
Furthermore, the PCB formulated a special disciplinary committee to hear Afridi’s case and summoned the former skipper to appear in front of the committee on Wednesday, June 8, 2010.
However, Afridi has not yet confirmed his appearance before the committee which was earlier termed as unconstitutional by his legal adviser, Syed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ali-Zafar-c43622.
“I’m keeping my options open,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Afridi, who led Pakistan side to the semi-final of the recent http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup, claimed that the captaincy has never been an issue for him.
"It's not a matter of being replaced as captain, it's a matter of honour. A lot of other players also feel they were mistreated but they cannot go public fearing for dire consequences,'' the 31-year old all-rounder added.
The former captain has been receiving a good support from national politicians but the PCB has asked politicians to stay away from the case as it is entirely a disciplinary issue.
Afridi is due to address a press conference today at Karachi Press Club, where he will announce his future roadmap.
