Sacramento Kings 104 – Golden State Warriors 103
Marcus Thornton scored a team-high 21 points as the Sacramento Kings won their final road game of the season with a hard-nosed 104-103 victory over the Golden State Warriors at ORACLE Arena. The victory snapped the two-game losing streak of Sacramento.
DeMarcus Cousins had 15 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists for the Kings, who have won five of their last ten games. Tyreke Evans and Jason Thompson and Beno Udrih added 14 points each while forward Donte Greene had 10 points.
Stephen Curry contributed 27 points, eight assists, and six rebounds for Golden State, who saw their three-game winning streak snapped. Forward-centre David Lee finished with 24 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists while Dorell Wright posted 19 points in
the defeat.
The Kings make it free throw line early in the first quarter and went on a 6-0 run to take an initial lead, taking a 36-17 advantage into the second. Both teams got their rhythm back in the second quarter and played some quality shots. However, Sacramento
managed to take a single-point lead, 60-59, at halftime. The Warriors were back into the game in the third quarter as they carried an 83-77 advantage into the final stanza.
The Kings opened the fourth quarter with a 15-6 run to take a 92-89 lead with 06:26 to go in the quarter. Golden State, on the other hand, continued to fight hard and made it one-point contest, 100-98, with 24 seconds remaining. Sacramento went on a 4-2
run in the next moment to take four-point lead. Curry hit a breath-taking 3-pointer in the closing second to make it 104-103 but it was not enough to force the game to overtime.
Oklahoma City Thunder 120 – Los Angeles Lakers 106
Kevin Durant had 31 points, four rebounds and two assists as the Oklahoma City Thunder thrashed the sliding Los Angeles Lakers 120-106 at Staples Centre. Russell Westbrook ended with 26 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and two steals. James Harden came
off bench for 16 points while forward-centre Serge Ibaka racked up 15 points in the fourth consecutive victory of the Thunder.
Guard Kobe Bryant once again played one of his best games of the season and added 31 points, four assists, and four rebounds. Pau Gasol paced Los Angeles with 26 points and four rebounds, while centre Andrew Bynum netted 12 points and 13 rebounds in the
fifth straight defeat of the Lakers.
Westbrook scored 18 of his 31 points in the first half as Oklahoma held a 66-64 lead at the break. Trailing by two points at halftime, the Lakers fought back in the third quarter and carried a 90-88 lead into the final stanza.
Los Angeles was still in the game at 104-103 with 03:10 left in the fourth quarter. However, the Thunder went on a 16-2 run in the last three minutes of the game to seal their 55th victory of the season.
