Sacramento Kings entertaining trade talks for Jimmer Fredette – NBA News
Jimmer Fredette might be on the trade block, after it was learnt that the Sacramento Kings were entertaining trade offers for the point guard, particularly since they have signed free agent Aaron Brooks.
“The Kings have entertained some Jimmer trade discussions; mainly because with the arrival of Aaron Brooks in free agency Jimmer’s camp has made it known they want assurances of a role or a trade somewhere Jimmer can get a chance
to play,” according to Steve Kyler of HoopsWorld.com.
Fredette was selected as the 10th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, but was traded to the Sacramento Kings. As Fredette entered the NBA scene, he was anticipated to have a great rookie season
and become one of the great point guards in the league over the years. He entered the NBA with a great reputation from college. Fredette averaged 28.9 points per game in college, shooting 45% from the field. He won the Naismith College Player of the Year trophy
in his senior year and was expected to shine brightly in the NBA.
However, Fredette was unable to live up to his expectations in the league, and averaged only 7.6 points in his rookie season for the Kings. He had an assist to turnover ratio of 1.8:1.1, and shot 38.6% from the field. Fredette
started only 7 games for the Kings last season, and averaged 18.6 minutes per game.
This is clearly not the rookie season Fredette expected to have in the NBA. With the arrival of Aaron Brooks in the line-up, the future for Fredette in the Kings roster is bleak, and a trade would be beneficial for him as well.
He is still only 1 season old in the NBA and could easily start over in a different team.
Also, he could be used as a role player coming off the bench to score points here and there. But for that to happen, Fredette needs to move to a different team because the Kings have a roster filled with back up players including
Tyreke Evans and Marcus Thornton.
