Chuck Hayes has been the subject of a medical mess up by the Sacramento Kings ….
The week has been a story of emotional highs and lows for Hayes.
He faced a major setback last week after Sacramento Kings, the team that bought his rights from Houston Rockets earlier this month, voided his 4 years contract due to a heart abnormality that surfaced after a routine echo test
on all the players.
All of a sudden Hayes’s NBA career looked done and dusted, but then a second opinion from Cleveland Clinic showed that there was no abnormality whatsoever. Dalembert could have sued the Kings for a blunder of this proportion, but
being a true professional he let bygones be bygones and has resigned with the team again on a 4 year deal at $ 22.4 million - $ 1 million more than the original for his troubles. Talking about the deal, he said;
"The Kings have been very supportive during this process and I feel very comfortable with the relationships that I have started there. After reviewing my options, the Kings were still the choice for me."
Chuck’s agent Calvin Andrews revealed that although the team made an unjustified move by immediately terminating Hayes contract without even waiting for the further reports, there were never sour feelings that developed between
both the parties.
"I want to make it clear there were never any bad feelings between Chuck and the Kings. We understood the process and their medical staff had to take the necessary precautions when it came to seeing any abnormalities of the heart.
We are thrilled that this was resolved so quickly”
Chuck Hayes was selected by Houston Rockets in the 2005 NBA draft, and in his six years career so far, he averages a meager 4.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. However, his stats saw a major improvement last season. He was a
consistent throughout the season and finished with a career high average of 7.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game which was good enough for Sacramento to make him part of their roster this season.
Now that all the distractions are over, Chuck will be gearing up and looking to give a much better performance this season.
