Sacramento Kings vs. Los Angeles Lakers, first half analysis
The game is being played at the infamous Staples Centre, Los Angeles CA. The first half has just finished so we can take a look at the first two quarters of the game and see which game is playing better than the other one.
The ball was jumped between Andrew Bynum and DeMarcus Cousins, Pau Gasol jumped ahead to gain possession of the ball for the Lakers, and in doing so beginning the game.
First quarter
After getting hold of the ball, Gasol missed a jumper, followed by a team rebound that transformed into Kobe Bryant’s bad pass to the Kings.
Cousins stole the ball and passed it to Semih Udrih, who in turn shot a jumper, 2-0.
A few moments later, Cousins, committed a shooting foul for the Kings that resulted in two free throws that Andrew Bynum grabbed hold of with ease, tying the scores at 2-all.
Cousin’s reverse layup at 10:07 on the clock gave the Kings a four point lead over the Lakers, 6-2. The Lakers moved forward and Bryant made his first shot with an assist given by Bynum to score 4-6.
A three-pointer clinched by Bryant at the 9:01 mark, gave the Lakers a 3-point lead over Kings, taking them 9-6.
As both teams chased the scores and kept in track of the other team, the game was tied eight times in the first quarter alone.
Los Angeles led Sacramento at the end of the first quarter, 33-30.
Second quarter
The Kings missed three shots at the beginning of the second quarter.
Carl Landry pulled out a layup to close the gap between his team and the Lakers, 32-33. In response to that, Shannon Brown made an alley-oop dunk assisted by Lamar Odom, to further the lead again, 35-32.
Luke Walton missed a three-pointer with 10 minutes in halftime and Evans got the rebound for Sacramento. The Kings snatched the lead from the Lakers, as they sunk a free throw after Walton committed a shooting foul.
Walton compensated for his foul with a three-pointer, taking the lead back with 7:43 on the clock. Odom shot four straight free throws that took the scores to 42-41 at that point.
Bynum slam dunked at the 3:50 mark and tied the scores at 48-all. Udrih gave Sacramento a lead over the Lakers with two points, as the guard made a layup. The Kings did not relinquish after that and sealed a 59-55 lead over the Lakers at the end of the first
half.
