Saddle Pads?

I was just wondering which saddle pads on the market are the best. (as in they dont slip back, fairly easy to keep clean, etc. etc.)

Price does not always equal quality, just so you know.

Fleeceworks is a very good brand, so is Roma. Go for a pad that has straps to go around your billets and over your girth, this will help with slippage.

I have a white dressage saddle pad for shows and a black one for schooling. I personally like the quilted pads since they clean easier than the fleece type ones. These can also be brushed fairly easy between washings.

Make sure you buy the right pad for your sport!

I like Ovation half pads and Centure(sp?) full pads. The Roma I had came apart at the stitches after 10 rides.

We just bought a new one, and I'm so pleased with it, it has a wickaway fabric - seems to stop the matted build up of sweat on the back. Haven't tried washing it yet. But seems excellent so far. The blankets with straps for the girths to go through and velcro tabs that go around the girth straps are also good.

I prefer the genuine sheepskin pads. They cant be beat for comfort and longevity. Yes, they are expensive but will pay for themselves in the long run. They are worth the investment.

honestly, i buy the 10 or 15 dollar Dover Saddlery pads, and they work REALLY well.

I've had some for 3+ years and they still work great, they have all the stitching, all the Velcro still works, they're really great.. and they're cheap so you can buy lots and have to do less laundry (haha, i hate laundry)

My only problem with them is that the &10 ones are WAY to small for my 18" close contact.. but if your saddles smaller, i'd definatly reccomend them.
