  1. Use your fore arm. The length of your for arm from your wrist to your elbow is the size of seat you need. If you bent arm fits in the saddle with just a little room thats the saddle size you nee. I have use method of checking size everytime, I never have a problem getting the right fitting saddle. Mind you I have not bought one in over 15 years. But it still works when I go and drool over the new saddles at the saddle shop. For the most part we are porportionate, and the lenght of your fore arm is the the size of the seat you need. Much like the length of your arms extended is your hieght. Luck

  2. to be honest you need to try different saddles out and sit in them and see what is comfy on your bottom, because I thought I knew my size when I bought a saddle went to go trot in it and hit my bum on the hard outside of the saddle. So compare and make sure its truly going to work for you.

  3. i am about the same height and weight and i have a 15 in. saddle (it might be 16 in.)  and i love it. when you sit in it, the pommel should be about 2-4 fingers' width from your leg....     however, its best if you go to some store.....

  4. I think you would probably be a 16. Yeah, i'm pretty sure you would be a 16, because of you're height.

  5. Myteen daughter is about your size and she could get lost in my 16" saddle LOL She rides a 14" and can do okay in 15" but has no stability at all in the 16"...her rear slides around in it.

Generally you should be able to get 3-4 fingers between your pelvis and the pommel of the saddle. That gives you room to be comfortable and shift to guide the horse (with your body weight and legs) but still gives you some stabilty.

  6. probably 15 inch

  7. I think you would be a 13 - 15. But IDK one measurement:

  8. well, usually a 16" or a 17" is pretty standared. I couldnt see you riding in anything lower than a 15" (western saddle)..

    Englsih saddles run somewhat smaller.

  9. i'm just about the same height (a little bit taller) and like right on the dot for weight...and i'm a 15 inch western saddle

thsi goes both ways for a barrel saddle or my own pleasure saddle

i have been told that i can fit into a 14 inch, but 15 is jsut so much more comfortable....

    hope this helps...good luck!

  10. Okay, get out a measuring tape.  Measure from the outside of your knee to your hip.  Take that measurement (Normally used for English saddles) and subtract 2" from it.  There's the size of seat for your Western saddle.  At 108 LBS, you'd SWIM in a 16" seated Western Saddle.

    Best of luck.

  11. I'm 5ft 6in and 130 lbs, I ride with a 15-in saddle.

  12. western i would go 15inch and english i would do a 16.5

  13. height and weight  are not critical here. the  distance between the horn and back of seat are. measure your current saddle from the horn to the center of the highest part of the back of the seat. Add or subtract inches to that if you wan t*t bigger or smaller.

Also how it fits your horse is important. Make sure the part under the horn thats not padded isn't touching your horse
