Saddler´s Rock expected to win Gold Cup
Saddler´s Rock is tipped to prevail in the Gold Cup (British Champions Series) (Group 1) at Ascot in England on Thursday, June 21, 2012. The winner of the class-1 race will be awarded a cash prize of £198,485.
The going will be good to soft in the 2 mile 4 furlong event, which is scheduled to start at 15:45 GMT, and a total of nine runners have been attracted towards it. Their names are as follows: Fame And Glory, Colour Vision, Opinion Poll, Saddler´s Rock, Nehaam,
Gulf Of Naples, Askar Tau, Bridge Of Gold and Caucus.
Out of the above mentioned runners, the best chances of victory appear to be with Saddler´s Rock, as he has got an impressive stamina. He has been delivering some decent results over the past few months, which will encourage the punters to risk the maximum
number of bets on him.
The four-year-old colt has participated in seven races, winning three of them. He has also secured the runner up spot once whereas finished third on the same number of times, which means that he only dropped out of the top three on a couple of times.
Importantly, the John M Oxx’s trainee has been in terrific form over the past couple of events, as he finished first in his penultimate outing whereas had to settle for the runner up position in his previous race.
The conditions were not ideal for Saddler´s Rock last time around, but he still gave a tough time to the winner. He started badly, but covered good ground afterwards, finishing second by just half a length.
Things will be easier for the race favourite today, as the conditions at Ascot suit his running style. He will be partnered by J. Murtagh, who does not have a lot of experience, but his performances until now have been impressive. He has a very good strike
rate, which is a positive sign for any jockey.
The bookies have more confidence in the abilities of Fame And Glory, who has got a phenomenal record at this level. He has participated in 22 events, winning 14 of them. In addition to that, he has also secured the runner up position thrice whereas finished
third once.
