Sadie Nennig pockets Women’s 200yard backstroke gold: Day four – NCAA Division 3 Championships
Sadie Nennig of EMOR pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 200yard backstroke on last day of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 3 Championships at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday, March 24.
Nennig showed no leniency to her challengers in the short course backstroke event and achieved top post on the victory stand by clocking a time of 1 minute and 58.86 seconds. Her effort was followed by Emily Schroeder of DEN, who stayed just 0.12 seconds
slower from Nennig and won silver medal of the discipline by clocking a time of 1 minute and 58.98 seconds.
Margaret Rosenbaum of HAM was the third best swimmer to conclude her race as she posted a time of 1 minute and 59.26 seconds for bronze medal of the discipline.
After a while, the crowd witnessed gruelling efforts of Rory Buck in Men’s 200yard breaststroke by hitting the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 59.27 seconds. The gold medallist was chased by Paul Dyrkacz of WILL, who remained nearly half a second slower
from Buck on the finishing blockade and ended second by clocking a time of 1 minute and 59.95 seconds.
Dyrkacz was trailed by Ian Bakk of KEN, who was 0.49 seconds apart and reached the medal rostrum for bronze medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 00.44 seconds.
After that, Brittany Geyer of STEV dominated the Women’s 200yard breaststroke by tapping the finishing end with a timing of 2 minutes and 15.55 seconds. With her impeccable swim, she stayed just 0.31 seconds ahead of WEST’s Caitlin Lehberger, who outsmarted
her following swimmers for silver medal of the event by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 15.86 seconds.
Lehberger was followed by Nicole Kett of KEN, who was only 0.73 seconds slower from her former finisher and hit the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.59 seconds for bronze medal.
In addition, the session ended after the completion of all listed events whereas the winners received medals and accolades for their impressive sprints at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship.
