Pakistan’s off-spinner, Saeed Ajmal is extremely impressed by the growth of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869 in international cricket but believes that the young spinner from Trinidad & Tobago will have to work hard to remain successful at the highest stage of the game.
Having made his international debut in 2011 during West Indies’ tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 2012
in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, with batsmen from all across the world finding it hard to deal with the accuracy and spin of Narine.
The 24-year-old cricketer played an influential role in Kolkata Knight Riders’ title triumph in the fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2012. However, Narine is yet to prove his worth in Test cricket.
While talking exclusively to Pakpassion, Ajmal, who is considered to be one of the finest spinners of the modern-day sport, said that it is wonderful to see Narine making progress in international cricket and feels that his strengths are variations and accuracy.
“Yes undoubtedly Sunil is a world class spinner in the shorter formats and he’s a bowler I enjoy watching. It’s always pleasing for the “spinners union” to see a young man making his name in the game and he’s really impressed me with his variety and control,”
Ajmal expressed.
Narine has so far played five Tests, 28 One Day Internationals (ODI) and 16 T20s for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, having claimed 82 wickets in international cricket. His statistics in the shorter formats of the game are much more impressive as compared to those in the longer
version of the sport.
In order to be successful in international cricket consistently, Pakistan’s wily off-spinner believes that Narine should continue to make changes in his game, to avoid being predictable.
He added, “The challenge for Sunil will be to continue to make life difficult for the batsmen and for them to continue to struggle to read his varieties. With batsmen and analysts around the world always trying to work out your varieties and with all of
the technology available these days.”
