Saeed bin Suroor good to go for the eighth fixture of the Carnival with his trio on 9th February
Saeed bin Suroor is going good with the preparations for the eighth fixture of the Dubai World Cup Carnival scheduled for 9th February, by selecting a trio that is highly competitive.
The Godolphin trainer, Saeed bin Suroor’s team comprises of Prince Bishop, Mendip and Pisco Sour. The three will head for the Group 2, Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2 sponsored by Dubal.
The four-year-old brown colt of Lemon Drop Kid out of Lynnwood Chase, Pisco Sour will be racing through Godolphin’s ownership for the first time and it will also mark as Pisco Sour’s debut for the season.
During the 2011 season, he won twice, was placed once and encountered a severe defeat in the second start of the season through the four total races that he participated in.
Pisco Sour won the Group 3, Tercentenary Stakes on 16th June in 2011 at Ascot which was followed by a victory in the Group 2, Prix Eugene Adam on 24th July at Maisons-laffitte. He will be coming straight out of two graded victories.
“Pisco Sour has been doing well and I like the way he works in the mornings. We wanted to give him a chance in a Group race like this to see how he gets on but he will improve for his first start since July.”
The five-year-old stable mate Prince Bishop, the chestnut gelding of Dubawi out of North East Bay has already posted a win that came through the debut race of the season. On 20th January, he won the Al Naboodah Travel & Tourism Handicap at the Meydan. The Al Maktoum Challenge Round II would be the second start of the season for Prince Bishop.
Saeed bin Suroor said: “Prince Bishop won nicely on his latest start and he came out of that race sound and healthy. His most recent piece of work went well and he deserves to take a step back up in class”
The third winning prospect for the Al Maktoum Challenge Round II that Saeed bin Suroor has saddled, is the five-year-old brown horse of Harlan’s Holiday out of Well Spring, Mendip, who finished fourth in his seasonal debut in the Group 3, Al Maktoum Challenge Round 1 on 12th January.  The last victory that was credited against his name was on 3rd March 2011 at Meydan in the Group 3, Burj Nahaar sponsored by Emirates Airline.
“Pisco Sour has been doing well and I like the way he works in the mornings. We wanted to give him a chance in a Group race like this to see how he gets on but he will improve for his first start since July.”
Kieren Fallon will ride Mendip while Pisco Sour will have William Buick onboard. Saeed bin Suroor’s two entries that are in for their second starts of the season and the one racing his debut will encounter Dubai Prince and Biondetti, trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni along with Master Of Hounds trained by De Kock and Richard’s Kid under charge S Seemar.
