Safe areas to live in British Columbia?

I'm planning on moving to BC for 4 months for one of my co-op terms in university. I want to be close to the Vancouver area, but i was wondering if anyone knows of some safe and friendly cities. I'm considering moving out there permanently one day, so if anyone knows of good family-oriented areas, that would be great!

  1. We live near  Metrotown  In south Buirnaby  Good bus service to S F U  and UBC  


  2. The further away you are from the city, the safer you generally are.
