  1. Try avast. It is a very effective anti-virus program that do not slow down PC.

  2. Firefox with addons: Adblock Plus and No-Script.

    Antivirus: AVG free edition

Firewall: Zonealarm or Agnitum Outpost version 1.0 (available from oldversion.com)

  3. Use of a "safe" browser cannot stop viruses. An anti-virus cannot stop virus, it can only help prevent them. Things aren't perfect.

I would recommend using Firefox and if you want a free AV, use AVG.

  4. There is an antiviruses free just for today

there is a code and you can activate it

    It worth trying it

You have to activate it right away because it won t let to activate it after the end of the day

    good luck

  5. No matter what browser you use, you will need anti-virus software on Windows.  While I love Mozilla Firefox, it doesn't stop viruses.  It does help stop phishing attacks (where someone takes your information and steals your financial identity).

AVG is a good, free antivirus package.  But, any antivirus package slows down your computer to some extent.  If your computer is very old,  I'd install Ubuntu or some other Linux distribution, since Windows does take more resources (especially if you use Windows Vista).

If your computer isn't too old, the antivirus package won't slow down your system much at all, except when it's actively scanning for viruses (which you should do at least once a week).

If you don't want viruses, use a Linux distribution like Ubuntu (see http://www.ubuntu.com ).  While the Mac OS is secure for now, as more people use the Mac, hackers will create more viruses for it.

  6. any anti virus/ program whatsoever will use system resources and therefore slow your computer down... if you don't want to slow your computer down at all, then your just gonna have to deal with the viruses... or be really careful... or get a Mac or Linux.
