Question:

Safe neigborhood to live in Sydney?

What are the safe suburbs to live in Sydney? I am looking for places that are commutable to CBD and the rent is below AU$200 per week. I happen to be a poor migrant so the cheaper the better. Also a neibourhood where Asians are welcomed would be nice; Places with no gangs, no racial tension. Appreciate your help.

  1. You might be able to find something in the West Ryde area for this sort of money, has a train station, lots of apartments, and I believe quite safe (most of Sydney is quite safe).

    Good luck

  2. Woo! I totally agree, Melbourne Girl. Best thing I've heard in a long time. Yeah, that is totally unAustralian. If you don't like how your country is, then tough luck. A real proud citizen would love everything about their country.

OK, back to the question. These are the following places I know with a high Asian population:

    * Hurstville in southern Sydney (Chinese)

    * Bankstown and/or Cabramatta in south-western Sydney (Vietnamese)

    * Auburn in western Sydney (Chinese)

I am not too sure about the rent prices though. While I'm answering this, I should warn you that south-western Sydney has high crime levels so if you care about safety, it's best to avoid that area.

    Good luck.

Edit: Ohh, if you're Japanese, you may want to try Strathfield - lots of Japanese and Koreans there but the rent prices may be a bit higher and don't worry, they will not blame you for what's happening now... you didn't cause it - you're just one of the many innocent people =]

  3. Hurstville is the right place for you many Asians there and you can catch a train into the CBD. Goodluck
