Safe sleeping medication during pregnancy?

Is it safe for me to take over the counter sleep meds like Tylonel PM during my third trimester? I'm only sleeping 4-5 hours a night and I can't take it anymore! And it's not because I'm uncomfortable (I'm rather small for 37 weeks), it's because of stress.

  1. I JUST had this conversation with my doctor 3 days ago....

She said Benedryl is completely safe and will knock you out! She told me to try that and if that doesn't work she can try Ambien (that's RX). Supposedly these two things are my only options, but, everyone could be different.

  2. My doctor told me I could take 1 Tylenol PM.

  3. My dr told me that although "nothing was approved" he suggested tylenol pm. I found that it worked really well (I only took one).Hope you get some sleep!

  4. melatonin - it's a natural chemical that your brain makes to put you to sleep. I know you can get it in most drug stores. I works great for me.
