Question:

Safe to gauge ears pierced with a gun?

I've had my ears pierced for about 5 years now and I got them pierced with a piercing gun. I thought I had read somewhere that you couldn't gauge your ears unless they had been pierced with a needle because of scar tissue or something?

Is this true?

If not, how would I go about beginning to gauge my ears?

  1. depends. i got mine done with a gun and it is hard around the piercing cause of the gun. but that is only on one side. if you can feel the hard stuff (tissue) around the piercing then you shouldnt stretch them. but in reality, why would you want to anyways, its stupid?

  2. I had mine pierced with a gun, and I gauged them out to an 8

I had no problems in doing so

  3. Well, scar tissue is going to happen. But it all depends on the care that was given. I'd gotten my ears pierced with a gun about 4 years ago. And GRADUALLY gauged up. Regular piercings are about an average of a gauge 20-18. Try moving up slowly to a 16. Then 14 after your ears have healed. If you want to move up in size. I'd suggest a taper after a gauge 12.  Just be sure that when you are gauging up, let your ears heal. Don't force it. It's not really worth it in the end if you force it. Results can be either a keloid developing or a blow out. Which hurt equally.

    Good luck!
