i have had terrible allergies for about 10 years now. food allergies and environmental allergies. even when i try my best to avoid things i'm allergic to (for 10 years now) i break out in itchy, terrible hives every day. so i take claritin every day (over the counter now), and now i only break out in hives when i've been really bad, like having a bowl full of strawberries when i know i shouldn't. so anyways, we already have 2 children, and with both pregnancies i stopped taking the claritin to make sure my baby was 100% safe. my doctor has assured me that it would be fine to take it but i was afraid so i stopped. now, my husband and i have decided to try to have another baby. i'm on the vitamins, but still taking my claritin daily. dr says it's fine, but i feel so nervous. do other mom's feel this way? do you think it's ok? would you take the medicine if you were me? thanks for your help!

  1. I was pregnant and i could take benadryl and claritin because i also had horrible allergies and sinus headaches. Make sure its ok with your gyno, usually they will give you a list of medicines that are ok. :) Good luck!!!

  2. Check with your Dr. for sure. Mine said Bendryl was preferred and if necessary regular Claritin  not Claritin D. D is stronger etc not safe or known yet.
