Safee Sali wants to experience European action
Malaysian international, Safee Sali, has recently revealed desire of playing in Europe after having a successful trial with Cardiff City. The player impressed during the trials but work permit issues denied the striker a move to Europe.
Sali recently had a trial with Cardiff City and wasn’t short on praise after impressing the officials with his resilient display. The Bluebirds expressed interest in the Malaysian’s services before learning about the work permit issues.
The striker was dejected over the entire situation but vowed to fight in order to fulfil his dreams. He told that he was unaware of these issues and would consult his lawyer before making another attempt at obtaining a work permit.
He was all praise for the Malaysian national team officials on polishing his skills and enabling him to represent a European side. He opined that his current stint with the Indonesian club has helped him a lot with his career and it would be an honour for
him to represent his country at the European level.
Sali also wanted to see more players from the country following in his footsteps, as the country’s football has come a long way since the arrival of new federation.
While talking to FIFA.com, the 27-year-old further mentioned:
“I really want to play in Europe so I hope, after my trial at Cardiff, to have more chances. I would be proud and happy if I can play in Europe, and I hope that many Malaysian players can go there. It would help development in Malaysia a lot. Indonesia is
a step forward for me, it is different level of football and experience in there."
Sali was the highest goal scorer in the recently concluded Asean Football Federation Cup, which the Malayan Tigers won for the first time in their footballing history. The striker finished with five goals in the competition.
“It was something that I dreamed of before and I never thought I could get the goals corer award. It was a very sweet year for me.” He concluded.
The attacker is currently playing in Indonesia with Pelita Jaya FC, where he has 14 league appearances under his belt so far to go along with his seven goals.
