Safest 4x4 SUV under $4,200?

I am getting a 4x4 suv soon and I wanted to know which ones have good safety. I looked at a front crash test for a '99 grand cherokee and it lookes awful. The front wheels went in towards the driver and it just looked so bad. I also saw a roll-over test and your neck would totally be broken. I really want a 4x4 suv. Something that I can actually take off road and not just to the store.

Things such as Cherokees, Grand Cherokees, 4Runners, Pathfinders, etc.

Which type of this suv is relitavely safe?

Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, are both excellent 4x4 trucks both on and offroad.  They are pretty stable regardless of all the SUV rollover hype that the national media keeps blabbing about.  They are harder to roll over than people think.  The 4 runners are great too they are just a bit more expensive because Toyota vehicles hold their resell values better than any other vehicle.  

Don't look at those stupid worthless crash tests.  It don't matter what vehicle you drive they'll all look like that if you drive it into a concrete wall.  How often do people do that?  Never.  Usually its car vs car.  

Since you want offroad capability, look at a Jeep Cherokee or a 4 runner.
