Question:

Safest Seat on a School Bus?

What's the safest seat on one of those big old yellow school buses?

I'm thinking the back is probably the safest because if the bus runs into, for example, a wall, then the front would crumple first (killing the people in front) while providing shock absorption for the back.

What are your thoughts?

  1. I say the drivers seat is the best. I drive a school bus.

  2. I would sit towards the back-middle

    or...towards the front-middle

    There's a difference =P

  3. NEXT TO A EMERGENCY EXIT if that buss get in a accdent i would be the first one off the buss and let the other suffer

  4. Well, the back is usually unsafe because of the number of people who all want to sit there. Plus, bumps are tough on the back seats. I say front. Behind the driver.

  5. According to the (NHTSA) the middle of the bus is the safest place to sit.

  6. middle... or front.. most people get kill in the back \when some crazy emo kids come out... and wat are chances of crash that bigg

  7. The chances of a school bus running into a wall are slim, and running into a wall that is sturdy enough to crumple the engine compartment, the driver's/entrance area at a speed high enough to do that, are super duper slim.  School buses are pretty safe moving around town at in town speeds.  Remember, they are bigger than most things on the road, and sit higher.  The seats are compartmentalized to keep a kid safe in an accident.  They are equally safe pretty much anywhere as long as they are sitting down properly.

  8. If you cut it up into 4 slices,  think it's the 3rd section back, cuz no one really thinks of them. Or maybe even the 2nd second section back!

  9. FRONT ALL THE WAY

  10. definetly not in the back because me and my sister almost hit our heads on the top of the bus when we hit bumps i like to sit in the front so i can get out when we get to school
