Question:

Safest birth control for teen

What is the safest birth control for a teenager? Personally, I believe she should still use a condom to help prevent STDs, but it is obviously safer for her if she's on sometihng as well, to help prevent pregnancies. I've heard too many problems with all of them, so I don't know which one to advise for her mother. (The teen isn't active yet, but it is definitely coming, despite her mom's wishes.)

  1. No s*x is the best birth control for a teen!!!!!!

  2. umm Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo i use no prego yet I've been on it for almost a year & its safe

  3. abstinence

  4. You do know that practically every one on here is gonna tell you the safest s*x is no s*x at all...

  5. if she is going to be sexually active try the pill and a condom just for additional protection...if her parents ask why birth control tell them that her period is becoming irregular and she kind of wants to establish a patttern

  6. Abstinence, obviously. There's no denying it works.

  7. here this site will help:

    http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-...

this is something she need to look at too

  8. Patch

  9. The safest is of course abstinence.  But I would try something like the shot, because you don't have to remember to take a pill everyday.  Maybe an IUD.  Something like that.  But definitely recommend she STILL use condoms.

  10. Abstinance...

  11. AARGGH !!!

No offence but y do people  say abstinence!

It Will not happen so is it not best warning them what is safe and what is not?

The best thing to do is to go on the pill or injection, but still always use condoms for STDs!!

  12. Abstinence. 100% effective!

And if you lay out the consequences (both pregnancy, and punishments) it CAN work! It's still working for me, and I'm 20!

  13. Don't have s*x at all unless you want to start a family. That is the best birth control

  14. safest birth control?

    abstinence.

  15. Please tell me what is a child doing having s*x.

  16. It depends on the person. If she can remember to take the pill EVERY day then go for that. You should take her to her doctor or local planned parenthood and they can discuss all the options with her and find which one is best. Make sure she knows that birth coltrol is only so effective and to always use a condom

  17. well,

    condoms and sprimicidal lubricant.

also it would help a lot if she went on the pill.

    good luck,

and this point happens to all teenagers, and its good of you and the mother to be taking responsibility.

  18. Abstinence.

I don't care.  Teenns should't be having s*x.  Maybe if NOTHING was available to them they wouldnt have a false sense of security and end up pregnant so often

  19. You can't completely control teens, the obvious answer would be no s*x. but seriously in todays world kinds not having s*x is almost non existent. Personally i've been on yaz since i was a freshman (for ovarian cysts) but i feel its worked really well and i haven't had a problem.

But maybe have her mother talk to a gyno about options and have the daughter talk with they gyno as well.
