Safest car for a teen?

Right now he's driving my Audi A4 3.2 quattro. I want to get him an suv as i know his personality and his need for speed. What are the safest luxury suv's for a teen, please don't mention fords or toyotas he's not into that and i will be buying used most likely so price will not hurt too much, all i want are the safest possible SUV's for an accident? thank you

SUV for a teen isn't really safe in general, not to mention the distraction of luxury buttons, but here are a few that rank high in safety and quality:

Lexus RX

Infiniti FX

Mercedes ML

BMW X3

Here are better choices that are still luxurious, fun to drive, safe, and easier to handle:

Audi A3

Audi A4

Lexus IS 250

Infiniti G35

BMW 3 series

Cadillac CTS

Now, those are safer, but still too much. here are what i recommend:

VW Rabbit/Jetta

Honda Civic

Pontaic Vibe/Toyota Matrix

Honda Fit

Nissan Sentra.

WTF!!

You are anticipating him getting into an accident and being safe as he T-bones some poor guy as he speeds through town?

What about teaching himto drive responsibly and not letting him until he can prove he is responsible and safe.

he does not need a safe car he needs to be a safe driver.

I guess the real question is what car should WE be driving to keep US safe with you son is on the road

The problem with any SUV for a teen is that teens are not experienced drivers and can't handle emergency situations that will cause rollover in ANY high-center-of-gravity SUV. I know you are thinking about crash survivability, but you should be thinking about crash avoidance.

Don't buy any vehicle that doesn't have electronic stability control -- and make sure your teen wears seat belts even though it's not cool. It doesn't matter what kind of vehicle your teen drives if he doesn't wear belts and gets ejected.

I'm just about to turn 16 and my parents are going to get me a car.  They are also crazy about saftey.  They said that they will only buy a big heavy car.  So my choices are a Lincoln LS V8 (used) or a 5-series BMW or Mercedes-Benz SUV.  Those are all very safe automobiles.

a second hand car would be best. im about to start driving, so yea. you seem like those mothers that would buy their kid anything. its not about quality all the time. get the boy a nice car, but at the same time worry about his safety...and if hes in need of speed! why should it matter anywayz the safest car when hes gonna crash the ***** anywayz!
