Which of the large Australian cities are the safest to live in? I'd assume Adelaide, but I'm not sure.

  1. Hobart or any other Tasmanian city, everyone is to busy participating in 'family time'.

  2. Nowhere is 100% safe. You can go to an unsafe place and nothing will happen, or the other way around . The safest place, you could have trouble come your way. The safest place is down to the person to not put themselves in a vunerable position . Not to leave cars or doors unlocked . Not to walk in lonely dark places. Australia is a reasonably safe place compared to many countries. The smaller the population the safer that place may be. such as Adelaide or Canberra.

  3. I agree with Jen. No where is COMPLETELY safe. Every city in Australia will have places with crime levels which are noticeable by others. For example, in Sydney, the south/south-west area has the highest crime levels.

Personally, I live there and I had never encountered any problem. 16 years (my age) and it has been fine since I was born.

The cities should not be taken up as a whole if you talk about crime and safety, but break it down into certain streets or smaller areas. To be honest, it is the individuals which live there - how they make the city/area like.

    Hope this helps.

  4. I'm guessing Canberra - small city with high average income/standard of living. I honestly don't think Adelaide is really significantly different to any of the other cities in terms of safety, they're all quite safe.

  5. My thought would be Hobart followed by Canberra then Adelaide.

  6. Australian cities are pretty safe, though its all relative. The capital Canberra is probably the safest
