  1. My grandparents live in Clearwater Fl. Nice beaches too! Since they live on the gulf side they dont get affected much by the hurricanes that do hit.

  2. We used to feel pretty safe in Orlando. About as close to the center as you could get. No direct hits by hurricanes in 50 years. Then in 2004 we had 3 hurricanes in 2 months. Nowhere is safe in a peninsula.

  3. At the nothernmost point of the state, at the furthest point away from both the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.

  4. Destin, FL

We are right on the beach...lol

  5. Big Cyprus Indian Reservation (Everglades), just keep your valuables locked in the car. LOL

  6. Just have a newer concrete block house that's up to code, and you'll be fine. I'm in a five year old house here that's been through 3 direct f-ing hits (Francis, Jeanne, and that other one...) and my house didn't lose a single shingle.

  7. Oh Orlando, FL all the way!

That's where my husband and I live. It's kind of in the middle of the state, of course. We've been here 2 years and it's been awesome. Not to say that SOMETHING couldn't happen, stuff happens everywhere you live. (even when I lived in PA & Ohio.. Tornados yearly!) But no matter where you live though, get a weather radio! I bought one for my dad and my husband for their birthdays. The one we got is the absolute best! You can set it for anything from tornadoes, to flooding, severe thunderstorms. You set the county too, so it's not going off every 10 minutes for every little thing. Every person needs one no matter what region you live in. www.Buy.com - It's called the Midland Weather radio. It's $49.99 + free shipping.

    Hope that helps! :)

  8. The entire state of Florida is affected by Hurricanes. Even the more inland areas still have the high winds and tornados. As far as safety, the nothern section of the state (panhandle and over to Jacksonville) is slightly safer, but only because evacuation is a little easier, but only because you don't have to fight traffic the length of the entire peninsula. Really, for each area, the hurricanes are an annoyance most years, then you get a bad one. That doesn't mean that your home will actually have severe damage, just your area. Educate yourself on hurricanes and preparing for one and you should be fine.

  9. Safe from what?  Hurricanes?

Don't let the last 4 years fool you, hurricanes don't hit Florida as often as they have.

Before 2004, where like 6 storms touched ground in Florida, there wasn't a major hurricane in Florida since 1992.

South Florida I would say is safest, because tornadoes hit northern Florida.
