Safety Features?

What are some safety features on cars and trucks that are designed to absorb energy during a collision?

I've thought of airbags, seatbelts, abs brakes and crumple zones. Are there anymore?

The Volvo passenger compartment actually rises above the protruding engine and drive train during a front end collision.
