  1. If they weren't modified, they have to be original

  2. All seat-belts are legal as long as they are the original manufacturers equipment and are using the original anchors that came with the vehicle.

  3. Hi Old Muddy.

Simply yes... If they are factory fitted.

They were used as retro fit on coaches, vans, mini buses, but they are now 3point version, even in coaches etc...

But as already stated they are not safe. If you were to install them now on your vehcile, i would check with VOSA, before you do to ensure they are still permitted.

    Hope this helps..

  4. If it is in an old car yes, but manufacturers would not be able to put them in new cars that are being produced.

  5. I think (I have no evidence to support this) that in a severe accident with a lap belt, the upper body will be thrown forward and thus the back will be bent severely at the waist, with the risk of spinal injury.

I guess that is why they are no longer legal for new cars.

Restraining the upper body by a shoulder belt prevents the severe bending at the waist.

  6. In existing cars, yes, they're legal, but not safe.

In new cars, there must be lap/shoulder belts in all seating positions.

I will not ride in a lap belt.

  7. only if that is the only belts that came with it from the factory
