Safety in Pinheiros, Sao Paulo, SP Brasil?

Hi,

I am traveling to Sao Paulo during June and July. I'm thinking of renting an apartment that is in Pinheiros, near Shopping Eldorado on Rua Butanta and Rua Amaro Cavalheiro. How safe is this area?

I am a Brazilian and lived my whole life very close to Pinheiros. You will be in a great area, with very good access to public transport (which are anyway not the best in Sao Paulo) and very close to Vila Madalena, where you can find cool restaurants, bars, night clubs and lot's of other things. Bear in mind that you are a foreign in Sao Paulo, therefore you should not wear expensive stuff when walking around, especially in the evening. Good luck!

Great area.  Convenient to restaurants, and fun evening activities.  Be prepared, it is quite cool in June and July.

Don't worry about safety, but, as in any large city be awear of your surroundings.  Unfortunately, if you look like you have excess money that you don't need it will encourage soem nice brazilians to take it form you.

Pretty safe. Pinheiros is a upper middleclass neighborhood. That said, as always, be aware of your surroundings and don't walk alone at night.
