  1. What do you mean by "indians safe" nobody is safe anywhere regardless of race, colour or religion ,but if you mean fighting, we stopped, i think in jan/feb....cant remember.  The number of indians living is kenya is as huge as the natives, you will only feel odd if you cannot communicate in kiswahili but dont worry, the language is easy to learn.  There are no fixed prices in kenya, our life is negotiate, negotiate, negotiate....... You would be better off if your employer provided housing and you can buy your groceries from your neighbourhood supplier.  Alternatively, you can buy them in the supermarkets (dont negotiate there)  Hey, jump off the cliff and build your wings on the way.

  2. hey dude, danger are everywhere in this real and extreme world no matter where you are.

  3. nairobi is safe but its just like other cities so there are definetely areas you will avoid at night times.yeah there wwas a peace handshake and things are even better.there are so amny indians here who ahve lived for generations and generations and they boost the economy by creating jobs they even intermarry with locals so they are safe.living expenses are not so bad though inflation is a bit high.

  4. In Nairobi at night, I did not feel safe. I have lived in very tough areas in the US.  But I was there only a couple of days. As you get used to the city, you will develop street smarts and know where you can and CAN't go.

  5. Just be careful when you go there. Don't give people the impression that you are a newbie or else they will take advantage of you. Things are inexpensive so don't worry about that. Also you can never go hungry coz Kenyans are friendly besides they would love to talk to you. Just be careful as you are always anyway.

  6. There is a risk everywhere you go. Isnt that what taking risks are for? To experience it.

  7. Right now it's safer to visit Nairobi.  You have to be very careful with your money and belongings.  Nairobi has big shopping centers and grocery stores.  You can take a bus to these areas.  They also have little shops for food, supplies.

I'm assuming you are East Indian instead of American Indian.  Nairobi is the melting pot of Africa, I think you'll fit in.

Safari Njema  (have a safe trip) in Swahili

  8. Well Nairobi now is quite, about thiefs is like any place in the world if you show your money or your jewels or walk in dark places, you will be on risk.

There is a lot of Indian people living there.

And there are places cheaps and expensive like in all the world this will depend about your standard of living.

  9. As long as you dont flaunt your wallet walking down the street you'll be fine. There are a lot of people that will snatch it from you, but thats with any big city. There are a lot of east indians in kenya, so people wont know if your from there or not. I dont know where you are moving from so i cant tell you exactly how the expenses are. Im from upstate ny, so everything, to me, is dirt cheap in kenya. My uncle and aunt live in a middle class neighborhood in nairobi and pay like $300 dollars US a month.
