Safety tips against hackers?

i'm now planning to build a business online, where you can shop online..but i dont know how to fight against hackers..can someone give me tips on how to secure my site against hackers?

If you worry about hackers the only 100 percent is not to build one.  Each day someone cracks the top securities of major conglom businesses my suggestion is to work with a spec who deals with networking and to set up a good VPN firewall if your business is small.
