  1. Buy it in the US, you've got more chance of it being cheaper, plus if you know how to build rods, do what i did and buy your sage blanks and build them your self, not only do they look better, have better guides but it works out cheaper.

  2. yes, sage prices all around the country are the same. might i suggest that when you get here, find a local fly fishing club. Chances are someone there will build a rod for you for minimal charge. If they won't they should be happy to show you how to build your own. I build my TXL for $250 and my TCR for $375 (725 msrp) and my XP's for about half price. The sense of satisfaction is awesome. Not to mention you can customize then, for example my tcr has titanium single foot guides for extra light weight which just makes the action faster. and a weighted reel seat for perfect balance with my reel. something to think about

  3. I'm sure it would be approx the same in either local. The general "mark-up" on rods and reels are minimal in any country!

I live in the Duluth area and the average cost on a Sage rod is between $250-$800.

In regards to "tackle & flys"- Wait and buy here or order online through Cabelas, (or DRIVE to Cabelas which is about a 2 hour drive from Duluth). Cabelas has the best prices and a very knowledgable staff.

  4. lol my sage just broke i need to get it fixed

  5. With the weak USD and the fact that Sage is a US mfr, I have no reason to believe you would save money by purchasing in Australia.

If you do wait until you get to Minnesota, don't make long drives around the state trying to find the best price.  Sage rods are sold at the msrp; any dealer discounting their Sage rods promptly loses their Sage dealership status.  Instead, consider visiting any of the many small, independent shops.  You can happily purchase from the shop providing the best customer service and not have to worry that you could have saved money elsewhere.
