Question:

Sagittarius galaxy parent galaxy theory?

According to the 2MASS project, the Sagittarius dwarf galaxy is currently intersecting the Milky Way, and our solar system is in the middle. This person Dan Eden, and someone else named Matthew Perkins say that our solar system actually once belonged to this dwarf galaxy, but neither of them are research professors or credible sources. Does anyone know a credible source to support this theory?

I found the information here:

  2. Sorry, there is no credible source for this information.  The original article by Dan Eden on viewzone quoted information from papers by Majewski, but people from that team have come forward as adamant spokesmen against this idea.  I was pretty enthralled with the idea that we are not from here as well, but there just isn't any reason to think this is true.  It's pretty disappointing, but all evidence suggests that we really are from here (i.e. the Milky Way.)
