Sagittarius issues?

Are people with heavy Sag in their charts know for depression or melancholy? Could this be due to disillusionment when reality doesn't quite meet up with expectations? Or would one expect ONLY a Saturn influenced aspect?

  1. I find this question interesting....

I know that these qualties can be the negative aspects of Sagittarius....I would think it would depend on actual birth chart alignments...how old the person is, and so on....

I have found that I can brood over a subject for some time...

I also hold grudges though I try to deny it!...lol

I do find that in my youth..lots of daydreams of how life could be...and so on...into my adolescent years you start to begin to realize that some of these daydreams are not realistic and that can be depressing. I also find that I become more upset and depressed over worldly news and current events before I would over something personal to me...its very sad to be able to dream and have wonderfully lovely dreams for the world only to see them shattered by others who feed on negativity and pain and suffering!

I also tend to become upset easily in the work place when I feel things are not equal or fair between bosses and co-workers...more angry at first and disappointed...but it turns to depression easily if I remain in that kind of situation for too long!

I am definately like my sun in Sag in the sense that I always have a need to change things up a bit....the same old same old day in and day out really gets to me after awhile! Almost like cabin fever! This can also depress me in a way....

    Sun/Sag Saturn/Leo

Edit*** I think we (as Sag's) try to take things as they come...I am mostly optimistic and as soon as I feel restrained or depressed I will cut loose and find a way to resolve the issue! Even if its just a bubble bath to soothe and calm myself...lol.

I never let myself feel 'forced' ..... I am not a slave to life...I am here to live it and love it and hopefully learn from it ...lol...maybe share a little along the way...lol!

(just didn't want you to think that I am actually 'depressed'.....lol)....though I did have a tough time with depression when I was a teen- I think a lot of it was to do with being a girl (hormones...lol...they are not always fun to deal with!..lol) and I had a series of deaths and losses around that time in my life.....

    *************EDIT***********

Wow, again I would've liked to have heard more from others as well......................must be an off night!?....lol

  2. No, if a Sagittarian is prone to depression, it's due to non-Sagittarian influences in their chart. If there's lots of sagittarian influence within the birthchart, I'd say that those people are actually *less* inclined to become depressed, as they are more prone to looking at setbacks and disappointments in their lives philosophically, taking these things in stride, rather than getting all worked up about them. As far as disillusionment goes, well Sagittarius really isn't that prone to illusion to begin with-that's pisces/neptune's department. Sagittarius sees the truth, and takes it in stride. Depression I'd say is Cap, Pisces, and Cancer/Saturn, Neptune and Moon's turf. If you've got a depressed Sag, I'd be looking to those for the indicators, maybe adversely aspected in the 4th or 12th in particular? Then again, I suppose if someone is going to get depressed, it could be due to just about any area of life, really, so house position could be relative. For example, say someone has moon in 10th....that's a person who invests a lot of emotion into their work, right? Well, a challenging transiting Saturn aspect to that moon could cause difficulties in this area for them...and could make that individual depressed.

I suppose what I'm saying in short, is that of course the whole chart needs to be considered:)

But no, Sagittarius is not typically prone to depression:-D

  3. When you say heavy Sag, are you talking about a stellium? I think that could be a problem with any sign if that is what you are talking about. It would have to be a kind of whammy to have something such as Neptune or Saturn in bad aspect to a stellium.

From what I've studied and seen within my own circle of friends and relatives, depression and melancholy seems to manifest from hard Mercury aspects to other planets.

Your question reminds me of what I saw in Jimi Hendrix's chart. He has several planets from a range of Scorpio to Sagittarius in hard aspect to Saturn and Uranus. He was such a brilliant musical genius, and you can see what a wonderful chart he had to work with..... but apparently he could not deal well with the depression and melancholy.
