Saif Uddin, Rais Uddin shine in qualifying round of 2012 Syed Modi International India GPG
Bangladesh’s spirited Men’s Doubles team Saif Uddin -Md Rais Uddin performed exceptionally well in opening match of qualifying round in Shaheed Dr. K.L. Garg - Syed Modi International India GPG on December 18, 2012.
They overwhelmed Rajat Joon-Ravi Kumar of India in the local badminton complex of Lucknow by registering favourable figures of 19-21, 21-19 and 21-16.
This hard fought tussle proved a real test for both teams as it kept them busy on court for three exhausting sets.
Initially, the Indian campaigners relished full benefits of home ground and bagged first match point but they could not withstand the strong backlash of their rivals and surrendered in the following games.
The twosome of Saif Uddin and Rais Uddin looked completely on song in the ending two sets as both partners did not allow their challengers to proceed and cast them out with a staggering knock.
However, they took some time to read their rivals’ game as Rajat and Ravi easily won first set with an impressive total.
They played wisely and claimed this valuable match point by piling up an indomitable score of 21-19.
The Bangladeshi campaigners proved themselves late bloomers as they switched on the best after going one down and brought the life back into contest.
Though, they looked bit dazzled in the establishing rallies but then few productive rallies boosted their confidence.
Saif and Rais started the beating after 12-12 and established a respectable lead in third quarter of the set. They strengthened their grip by putting 17-14 margin and then made best out of this lead in final stage.
They kept on moving forward without any interruption and placed a winning figure of 21-19. This win setup a nerve-racking third set and both contenders employed all of their brilliance to survive this battle.
In first half of the set, Rajat and Ravi forged a fruitful chemistry and kept the bird under control but then few unforced errors triggered the collapse.
Saif and Rais did not fritter away this opportunity and swept the table with a convincing margin of 21-16.
Now they will face Manjush Mohan K. K.-Suraj P. H. in the second stage of qualifying round of Shaheed Dr. K.L. Garg - Syed Modi International India GPG.
