Sunday I am leaving for vacation and I want to go sailing on a catamaran. Been on ships since I was 3 and sailing myself since I was 6 is it very similar to a "normal" ship or a lot different. What to expect?

  1. Controls are the same. Just allow the jib to back the bow around a bit more when tacking until you get the feel of the boat, You haven't mentioned the size cat you'll be on, but basically every little action gets a faster reaction than a mono. Due of course to the fact you are going a fair bit quicker.

Small cat: If you ditch it, make sure the main is off and swim the mast around until the HULLS are pointing into the wind before trying to right it. (Check the boat has righting ropes or straps before you go out on it, that will make the world of difference, believe me.)

  2. A lot faster and funner.  Just keep an eye the boom when tacking it comes around quick.
