Sailing near London?

Question

I'd like to do some sailing one weekend. Is there somewhere on the South Coast near London that I can hire a Hobie Catamaran or similar by the day/hour? I'm guessing there may be something at Poole Harbour / Bournemouth, but anything closer?

Have a look at the site below for a sailing club not too far from where I live. It's on the Kent coast, rather than strictly the south coast, but they might be able to advise / help in your search.

Queen Mary (Middlesex / Surrey borders) does have some smaller boats they hire out to newly qualified RYA people.  My husband did this for a while.

Also if you wanted to do this cheaply have you thought of offering to crew for someone.  Many of the private sailing clubs would allow you to put something on their boards and it would cost you nothing.  Over the summer many people will be without their regular crew and be looking for someone?  From there you might tie up with some racing just down at Hamble or something over August.
