Saina Nehwal confident to lift Women’s Singles title in the 2012 Olympic Games – Badminton News
India’s most celebrated Women’s Singles player, Saina Nehwal, is confident to perform well and win the Singles title in the 2012 Olympic Games, which will be held in London.
In the 2008 Olympic Games, Saina was optimistic to deliver a good performance, but she lost her match in the quarter-final stage.
While talking about her defeat in the Beijing Olympics, Saina said, “I was very disappointed. I really wanted to win the tournament. Although I was young I always had the feeling that I could reach the finals. So when I played the quarterfinals, I kept thinking
of the semifinals. Then I went blank.”
After her defeat in the Beijing Olympics, the top seed in India worked really hard to amplify her badminton skills to win major events at the international level.
Saina further said, “It happens sometimes and that tournament really made me strong. Now it is my dream to win the London Olympics, I think I’m on the way, but there is a lot of work to do.”
The World Number Four, Saina, is working hard in training sessions to eliminate all her errors to produce better results in next year’s Olympic Games.
The Indian proved her worth in the Sudirman Cup 2011, where she defeated Chinese shuttler, Wang Xin, who is currently the World Number Three. After her spirited performance in the recent event, she is looking forward to level the gap between her and top
Chinese players.
While talking about the strength of Chinese players, Saina said that they are professionals who are strong in every aspect of the game. However, Saina also added that she is getting familiar with their style of play, as she faces Chinese
shuttlers in almost every major event.
Saina is looking forward to work hard as she wants to get at the top in the Olympic Games at London. With the current form the Indian is in, the big task of securing the gold medal in the prestigious Olympic Games is surely on the cards.
