Saina Nehwal eases into Women’s Singles second round at India Open Super Series 2012
India’s badminton star Saina Nehwal started her campaign in a perfect fashion as she eased into Women’s Singles second round after beating Hong Kong’s Pui Yin Yip in the first round of India Open Super Series in New Delhi, on Wednesday, April 25.
Saina, who is number five in the Women’s Singles world placements and third seed in India Open, played with complete command and notched up victory over her lower ranked rival in a convincing fashion.
The higher ranked Indian was the favourite to win this contest and she did not disappoint her home fans as she registered an easy win over her opponent.
On the other hand, Pui Yin was helpless against the planned game of her higher ranked Indian opponent and lost the encounter easily in straight games with a comprehensive margin on the board.
In the opening set, Saina was in her prime form as she played with wonderful precision and managed to take a remarkable lead at initial stage.
In the meanwhile, Pui Yin tried to level the score by increasing her speed but she failed to play with precision and remained struggling in the court.
Saina remained on track and did not face any trouble from her Hong Kong rival in taking a remarkable lead of 11-5.
After the break, Saina continued her roller-coaster run and bagged the first set with a tremendous margin of 21-14.
In the second set, Pui Yin tried to put up good show in opening rallies but she again failed to play well and also remained struggling in taking the bird early.
On the other hand, Saina was fully focused and composed in the court as she played with complete control and managed a striking lead of 11-5 until the interval.
After the break, Saina stunned her rival by playing with impressive control as she did not let Pui Yin to put up resistance. She remained on track and took the game with a terrific margin of 21-6.
Saina won her opening round contest in just 29 minutes by an amazing 21-14 and 21-6 margin on the score board.
