Saina Nehwal is ready to clinch the Women’s Singles titles in upcoming events – Badminton News
India’s Women’s Singles top shuttler, Saina Nehwal, is ready to clinch the Women’s Singles titles in the upcoming events which include the Thailand Open GP Gold, Singapore Open Super Series and the Indonesia Open Super Series. All these events will be contested
in the ongoing month of June.
Nehwal will be the top seed in the Women’s Singles draw at the Thailand Open, which is set to begin from June 7.
While talking about her plans in this busy month, Saina said, “Right now I am training very hard for the three tournaments which are going to take place over the next three consecutive weeks. Playing three tournaments in as many weeks is going to be a very
arduous task.”
She added that she has no pressure on her, despite the fact that she will be the top seed in the event.
In the following events of the Singapore Open, starting from June 14 and the Indonesia Open, to commence on June 21, the Indian will defend her title as she won both the respective tournaments in the previous year and surprised everyone by playing remarkable
badminton.
Nehwal said that there will be pressure on her in these two major events where all top shuttlers from China, Korea, Denmark and Indonesia will be competing for the Women’s Singles crown.
The Indian asserted that she will focus to win the early round matches, as it will boost her confidence. She knows that in the later rounds the competition will become harder as all top Chinese players will be present to give her a tough time.
In last week’s Sudirman Cup, in China, Nehwal defeated Wang Xin of China, who is currently ranked at the Number Three position in the world standings. Nehwal said, “I had lost to her in our two previous matches and it was satisfying that I could beat her
in her own backyard.”
This month will be very busy for the Indian and she has to be at her best to perform well in the three back-to-back events and defend her title in two of them.
