Saina Nehwal loses title match against Wang Xin in the 2011 Malaysia Open GP Gold
India’s Women’s Singles ace shuttler, Saina Nehwal failed to deliver an impressive performance and lost the title match against Wang Xin of China, in the 2011 Malaysia Open GP Gold at Alor Setar, Malaysia on Sunday, May 8.
It was a superb final between the elite shuttlers in the world of Badminton. Saina did not face any considerable resistance from the talented Chinese player and finished it with a good margin of 21-13. Xin played a confusing game in the opening set which
spared an opportunity for Saina to get a one-set advantage in the title match.
In the second set, the Chinese played a remarkable game by not making any errors in the entire set. Whereas, the Indian made a series of mistakes and remained trailing far behind Xin, who grabbed the second set with a stunning margin of 21-8.
In the third set, both ladies put up a superb show of quality badminton by playing a top class game. The score progressed slowly as nobody could manage to take a clear lead against the opponent. The score was 14-14, where the Chinese dramatically scored
seven consecutive points and won the final set 21-14.
After the final match Saina said, "I made too many mistakes in the match, especially in the second game. I was bothered by two line calls in the third game and paid the ultimate price. I should have kept my cool and it is a good lesson for me."
The Indian expressed that the Chinese shuttler geared up the tempo of the game in the second set and kept her moving around in all corners of the court. Saina tried her best to stop the winning run of the opponent by avoiding mistakes, but she failed to
control the pace of the game.
However, the Indian accepted her defeat in a good way by saying that she did not play a good game. She did not blame her injured ankle, as according to her it is a lame excuse to use.
She said, "This is my third loss to her. I thought I could beat her. I will not use my ankle as an excuse. There is no problem as it is taped up. When she won seven points in a row in the second game I took it easy as I wanted to take a breather and catch
her in the decider.”
The winner, Xin said that she is very happy to win the title on the Mother’s Day.

"This is my first victory this year and I would like to dedicate it to my mother," said the Chinese player, who received US$9,480 after winning the Women’s Singles title.
The final match was exciting as the Saina fought hard and battled it out with Xin. The Chinese player was too strong and managed to take the title with an impressive performance.
